What happens at pre-assessment
  • Full eye measurements and scans
  • Comprehensive medical history review
  • Lens selection discussion (for cataract patients)
  • Consent discussion and signing
  • Opportunity to ask all your questions
What to tell us
  • All current medications, especially blood thinners (warfarin, apixaban, rivaroxaban, clopidogrel, aspirin)
  • Any allergies to medications or materials
  • Details of diabetes or other systemic conditions
  • Any previous eye surgery or trauma
  • If you feel particularly anxious or claustrophobic
What to bring
  • Your appointment letter
  • An up-to-date list of all your medications
  • Your current glasses
  • A responsible adult to drive you home
Morning of surgery checklist
  • Arrange transport home (you cannot drive)
  • Use pre-op drops if prescribed
  • No eye makeup or face cream
  • Eat and drink normally (unless instructed otherwise for general anaesthetic)
  • Allow 2-3 hours total for your visit
